After reading the post below, you may feel I’m being too negative. Or right on. So indicate your expectation in this PT poll on the likelihood of the referendum passing at this point. I’m not asking whether it should pass but whether it’s likely to.
Yes, so much depends on the wording – but once known, we’ll take another poll and see how the odds look then. In the meantime …

Number of days til the referendum, if held at next municipal election: 403
You can see the results of the last poll here.
This is not a comment re: this post but maybe this is the best way to make sure you view A Short History of the Highrise in today’s NYTimes? Enjoy! http://www.nytimes.com/projects/2013/high-rise/
Does anyone know of any pressure groups or Yes To Transit Funding organisations out there? Looking to do whatever I can…….
Why is this poll a question of pass-fail? Wasn’t it supposed to be one where we think of HOW we fund transit, not IF??
Clearly, Bateman is getting thoughts in our heads (“none of the above option”).
And if we keep looking at it this way (ie. pass or fail), it probably WILL be a referendum of transit or no transit.
I listened to the 16 minute Q&A session with the Minister of Transportation yesterday. It sounded to me like he believes a package of transit (not necessarily everything TransLink has proposed) is absolutely necessary in the near future. Having said that the BC Liberals appear to be committed to having “none of the above” on the ballot.
If that’s the case the ballot results will look something like this:
12% Funding option A
20% Funding option B
15% Funding option C
8% Funding option D
45% None of the above
Although the majority vote for funding transit, none of the above wins by a landslide. The nature of the question guarantees the result.
