We have been holding this one though:

Christy Clark, Premier and Liberal MLA for West Kelowna:

.

How will you advise your constituents to vote on the Transportation & Transit Referendum?

“As a voter, I am going to vote Yes in the referendum.”

Although Ms. Clark represents a Kelowna-area riding, her office noted that she has residences in both the Okanagan city as well as Vancouver.

.

So why, on an historic vote in this region, one that will affect their constituents in so many ways – economically, environmentally, personally – would elected representatives not take a position?

We’ll make it easy for them.  Another email will go out today with these options:

(1) Simply push Reply, and we’ll accept that as a “Yes” to the question: Will you support the Mayor’s proposal?

(2) If there is no reply at all, we’ll assume your position is one of the following:

  • I’m opposing the Mayor’s proposal and will vote no.
  • I’m taking no position.
  • I don’t care.

(3) If none of the above capture your position, tell us what it is.

.

Yeah, a little pushy.  But justified?

  1. Absolutely justified. These are our elected leaders, elected to lead. If they can’t be bothered to offer an opinion on one of the most important issues in Metro Vancouver, then what the hell are they doing as our leaders.

    1. They are not leaders. They are politicians. Political parties run like big corporations. Very few lead, most follow (or get turfed). If you are a Liberal in BC, for example, and you disagree with Christy Clark, where do you think your career in the Liberal Party goes ? Ditto with NDP or federal conservatives, or “Vision” Vancouver or NPA.
