Price Tags is asking every MLA in Metro Vancouver questions about the referendum.
Marc Dalton, Liberal MLA for Maple Ridge-Mission:
.
How will you advise your constituents to vote on the Transportation & Transit Referendum?
I will be voting ‘Yes’ in this referendum. I encourage my constituents to learn about the full range of transportation and transit initiatives and benefits proposed for Metro Vancouver. It’s important to remember that we’re building for the future of our province.
.
What is the priority in the Mayors package (if any) for your riding?
The Pitt Meadows-Maple-Ridge-Mission area has benefited in the past from major infrastructure upgrades and improvements to our transportation networks. I support the Mayors package because it’s a plan that takes a system-wide approach to better transit and transportation. My area of the Lower Mainland is one of high growth, where a large percentage of the population commute for a living or for their education. Making efficient use of public transit options and reducing harmful emissions from our environment makes sense to me and many others. The Province is committed to a diversified economy. One of its key strategies is major capital investment in transportation infrastructure. We can’t have one without the other.
.
How do you plan to participate in the referendum campaign?
I make use of my Twitter account to share ideas and information on public policy issues. In my riding, I encourage people I meet to review the regional transportation and transit plan before they mark their ballot in the referendum.
