Price Tags is asking every MLA in Metro Vancouver questions about the referendum.
.
Jane Thornthwaite, Liberal MLA for North Vancouver-Seymour:
.
How will you advise your constituents to vote on the Transportation & Transit Referendum?
I support a yes vote. As Minister Todd Stone said, “’Transit expansion is vital to economic development in Metro Vancouver and will be a critical component of ensuring that the region is able to accommodate the million additional people expected over the next 30 years.”
.
What is the priority in the Mayors package (if any) for your riding?
Although the proposal put forth by the Mayor’s Council will help the entire region, I am most supportive of improvements to transportation in North Vancouver. The increase in SeaBus by 50% to every 10 minutes in the A.M. and peak periods will provide greater level of service for individuals who rely on the SeaBus all across the North Shore; it will also attract new ridership with only 15 minutes between services on non-peak hours and reduce the strain on buses. There are also three proposed B-line buses, one of which will start right outside of my office and go downtown via 29th street, Lonsdale and Marine Drive.
.
How do you plan to participate in the referendum campaign?
I am supportive of a yes vote and will communicate this to the best of my ability to my constituents.
.
Any other comments?
I want to thank District of North Vancouver Mayor Richard Walton for his leadership as the Chair of the Mayor’s Council that put together this package.

Good response by Jane Thornthwaite, although she and the other North Shore MLAs are awfully quiet on social media about the referendum. I haven’t noticed any efforts to promote the Yes vote.
