City Conversations: The Transit Referendum – Feb 6

The Transit Referendum: Should there be one? What will it take to win?

Premier Christy Clark has backed away from her November municipal election deadline for a transit referendum. The big questions now are: Is this one of those complicated issues that we pay our elected officials to get right and pass? What would the funding sources be – gas tax, carbon tax, vehicle tax, or property tax? What transit expansion projects would be funded? How much time is needed to design a convincing project before a vote?

Join a conversation with Vancouver Councillor Geoff Meggs and SFU City Program Director Gordon Price. Then it will be your turn to ask questions, comment, and opine. Feel free to bring your lunch.

When: Thursday February 6, 2014

Time: 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.

Location: Room 1600, SFU Vancouver at Harbour Centre

Cost: Free
