Halloween Treat: Watch a 1927 Silent Film Accompanied by a True Pipe Organ

To celebrate Halloween here is a fundraiser Halloween  event that is sure to sell out.

Did you know that there is a Casavant Organ in Dunbar’s St. Philip’s Church 3737 West 27th Avenue? The Casavant is a massive pipe organ made by Casavant Freres Company  in Quebec since 1879.

And did you know that prior to July 1928 there were no movies with sound, but music was played by organs and instruments specifically to accompany movies?

You have your chance to see a real silent movie as it would have been experienced almost one hundred years ago.

Put on your best costume and buy treats while watching the 1927 The Phantom of the Opera silent film accompanied by Director of Music Michael Murray on the  “booming” Casavant organ. There will be drinks and treats available for purchase.

There are two performances:

Date: Friday October 28 and Saturday October 29

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Wear costumes, if you like! Bring cash for popcorn.

This is sure to sell out. If you want to get a ticket, please click this link. You can find out more about this event, which is $25 for adults and $10 for kids here.

And here is what a Casavant organ sounds like in the video below. This one is in Dayton, Ohio.
