Seaside Greenway Party – Jul 5

An update: (No coordinated bike ride; just show up!)

The Seaside Greenway that connects downtown’s Seawall and False Creek with Jericho Beach is ready to be biked, walked, or rolled – and may the best costume win.

There will be music, food, kids crafts, and more along the route and especially closer to Jericho Beach. Bring your decorated bikes, kids and picnic baskets!

This celebration for everyone is supported by many, including the Vancouver Public Space Network, HUB Cycling, the UBC AMS Bike Co-opBEST, area neighbours and others.

Stay tuned for more details. If you’d like to help out, please contact paola@vancouverpublicspace.ca

  1. I just biked the seaside greenway today — I caught up to two tourist cyclists visiting from Sweden way out at Spanish Banks… the first thing they said was that “Vancouver has awesome bicycle routes” — they’re staying in a BNB near English Bay and rode out on rented bikes.

  2. The party was a blast! Fabulous decorations with balloons everywhere (all along Point Grey Road from Alma to Macdonald and in all the parks), great selection of food, non-stop music from neighbourhood bands, games galore, fitness and bike demos, contests with prizes, notice boards, suggestion boxes, kids crafts, bubble-blowing, free “I love safe, shared, local Point Grey Road” t-shirts and “share the road” buttons, etc., etc! Happy, smiling faces all round. Lots of families with kids of all ages, able and disabled. The road kept clear and open to all users (except commuting motorists), with a steady stream of pedestrians, cyclists and cars. A glorious success! Thanks to all who organized it and came to enjoy!
