Vancouver, the Backdrop

Is it just me, or does Vancouver seem to be serving as the set for a lot of commercials, particularly car ads?  Like this one:

  1. Something I noticed when living in Vancouver was that the car ads all had cars driving in and around familiar west-coast locales. When I moved to the GTA, the car ads had the cars driving around Toronto or other east-coast looking places. It wouldn’t surprise me if the advertisements are purposely filmed in the location of the target market. Another thing I noticed were the ads in Vancouver were for smaller cars vs the ads in Toronto are for larger cars, SUVs, and pickup trucks. This is all anecdotal and may not be true at all, just my observations.
