Offensive art

It’s an LED sculpture, untitled, that rises the heights of two buildings – and it has pissed off the neighbours across from West Pender Place.  But it sure is beautiful.

  1. I agree – I’ve loved seeing it since it mysteriously appeared on my nighttime dog walks. I wish it somehow could have stayed on all night…

  2. I also love it, but I don’t have to look at it all night. It does move pretty fast, though, so I do understand if people feel it gets a little too disco.

  3. If we would like Vancouver downtown to look at night like Las Vegas then yes let us have more flashing and cascading lights on our apartment blocks!

  4. I agree with all sides. Light shows on skyscrapers are common in flashier cities like Singapore, and quickly get old once they spread like an arms race. This one (because it’s the first) is pleasing if you don’t live across the street from it, but I’m sure those who do are apoplectic that it was approved. I lived a few blocks to the east, didn’t mind watching it, but found my empathy for those living closer got in the way of any simple abstract pleasure.
