The westside walker and scientist, Dr. Bourgelat has reported on a train that runs in the back lane of Dunbar Street and also has disclosed the hidden locations of many public right-of-ways, parks and stair cases in the Dunbar/Quesnel area.
He’s at it again with this clever find on a boulevard (that’s the space between the curb and sidewalk) in the area near Quesnel Drive. There’s an interesting pattern on the boulevard which is your indicator that there might be something special on the other side of the sidewalk.
(And the gardening on the boulevard is entirely legal. I wrote the policy after completing a remarkable demonstration project on Windsor Way with the Dickens Community Group and Peter Wohlwend and Midori Oba.)
Along the private property side of the sidewalk is a “wattle” fence structure, and as you approach there is a surprise.
There is a huge nest, with several large eggs in the nest. The eggs look real, and even demanded a second look from Dr. Bourgelat, who is actually a specialist in birds and animals.
Alas, the eggs are made of concrete: but now that you know this boulevard public art exists, you can go and find it to experience it yourself.
