Our Viewpoint Vancouver scientist, “Dr. Bourgelat” has been walking the back lanes of the westside of the city, and made this surprising discovery near Dunbar Street that is designed for kids of all ages.
Most of the back lanes in this neighbourhood have high fences where you can peek to see the garden. But where the fence should be behind this house, is a little indented shelf, with a few spare face masks, and an absolutely unexpected sign.
“WELCOME!! Is the TRAIN not chugging along the track? -JUST- Ring our doorbell (far left) or call our phone number posted here and I will be right out!”
Imagine-a resident has left an inviting note behind their property in the back lane with their name and phone number so people in the back lane can watch the train. And they even signed their signature, so all the neighbours know the note is legit.
We’ve omitted the name and phone number in this post, but you can see the note.
And here is what that train looks like: It is a confection circling around a snowy mountain, with even a train tunnel. The neat part is the train is on a platform at waist height, so it is viewable by children as well as adults.
Kudos to the resident who has made pandemic back lane walks just a little bit cheerier in the winter. Of course everyone wants to watch to see if the train’s snowy landscape changes as we head into (hopefully) an early spring.
