The Circle Line may have been built using cut and cover techniques, meaning shallow stations – easily accessible from the street.
I suspect that parts of the line were probably originally in trench then covered over.
Add a couple more escalators to the run and you wouldn’t make it.
Those faregates sure look familiar!!
