It’s unfortunate that chain link fence was chosen for such a prominent location. In Europe and Japan it seems that welded wire mesh fencing (example: https://www.ametco.com/images/uploads/WeldedWireFenceFiestaDesignCaliforniaUniverstyinPennsylvania039.jpg) is used pretty much exclusively for anything permanent – tidier looking, easier to see through and more secure. Maybe the intent here was to complement the aesthetically appalling galvanised pipe suicide fence on the Ironworkers’ Memorial Bridge?
That welded wire mesh is used along the Canada Line and does look tider.
I guess the City of Vancouver (which built the overpass) has different standards.
