What densification looks like in the Ballard urban village – 2

Next to South Lake Union and possibly Capitol/First Hill, there’s no more happening neighbourhood than Ballard – and people take that any number of ways.
For fans of doing high-density development – but not in the Vancouver pointy tower form – fitted into an already-existing retail district with services, transit and history, then Ballard is the place to see.

  1. New monolithic midrise residential development like these in Ballard, with no design controls over length, step backs, articulation or transition to lower buildings, are among the most graceless buildings around. Vancouver 4-6 storey developments are brilliant in comparison.
