Tony Abbott was ousted as Australia’s Prime Minister, in part because of his stance on climate change. It’s election season in Canada and we have an opportunity to learn from Australia’s experience in both implementing and repealing a national carbon tax.
The next Carbon Talk – “The Economics and Politics of Carbon Pricing in Australia” – hosts guest speaker, Dr. Martin Parkinson, who served as Australia’s Secretary to the Treasury and as the inaugural Secretary of the Department of Climate Change from its establishment in December 2007. As a former senior public servant, he has seen governments and oppositions come and go and will impart his knowledge of Australia’s carbon tax experience.
