Tim Flannery to Receive SFU’s 2015/16 Jack P. Blaney Award for Dialogue

Simon Fraser University’s Centre for Dialogue is pleased to announce Professor Tim Flannery as the recipient of the 2015/16 Jack P. Blaney Award for Dialogue. This award provides an opportunity to celebrate the significant role Professor Flannery’s work has had in advancing the global conversation around the critical issue of climate change.

From convening global business leaders at the Copenhagen Climate Council to performing community-based outreach with the Australian Climate Commission, Professor Flannery has reached out to new audiences and created opportunities for authentic engagement.

Reality Check: Climate Change, the Resource Economy and the Road to Paris

At this special lecture Professor Flannery will discuss global climate issues with local thought leaders and will tackle the thorny topic of how to reconcile global environmental concerns with economic growth and resource development.

Audience members will also witness the Canadian launch for Professor Flannery’s latest book, Atmosphere of Hope: Searching for Solutions to the Climate Crisis, which follows his past international bestseller The Weather Makers.

  1. Flim Flam Flannery-wasted $10 billion on desalination plants now mothballed, ongoing expenses of $1 billion/year all billed to the Australian taxpayer. Not to mention the economically, environmentally, politically disastrous wind power program set to skewer taxpayers to the tune of $46 billion in the next fifteen years, for zero benefit.
