The Daily Scot: Win-Wins in Victoria – 3

Scot in Victoria:.
.

Kiosks, under appreciated and often overlooked as a building form in urban areas have found their way into downtown Victoria’s street scene. The parking lot surrounding the Asian street food kiosk is crying out for a tactical placemaking exercise with some tables, chairs and planters, maybe some stringlights overhead.

I believe the coffee kiosk was re-purposed from an old parking attendants structure, I wanted to ask but they had just closed for the day.

  1. These look pretty neat. I’m puzzled as to why the abandoned structures were not bulldozed to make way for 2 more parking spaces when the operation was automated.

  2. The Foo ‘kiosk’ in Victoria is actually originally a gas station fron the 30s or 40s. It’s also been a taxi dispatch office and a private beer and wine store.
