Scot recently spent a few days in Victoria and will be sharing his thoughts on the city across the water:
.
.
There’s appears to be a mini boom underway in Downtown Victoria regarding condominium infill products. The Chinatown and Design District neighbourhoods appear to be seeing the most recent activity as surface parking gives way to new construction. The Union project, seen below, is a collection of two five-story buildings with street level commercial space incorporating a restored historic structure on the site’s east end.
.
.
.
The project I am most interested in is The Janion, which involves the restoration of the Janion Hotel a building constructed back in 1891 and the incorporation of 111 micro-loft units at the rear of the structure overlooking the harbour.

.
.
Adding affordable Micro lofts to the downtown area will no doubt help boost the critical mass of more young people living, working and playing in the core adding more vitality and energy. The large tracts of walkable historic fabric and requisite grittiness in Chinatown and the Design District to the immediate north seem to be attracting the hipsters and creative set.

Adding to British Columbia’s, perhaps even Canada’s, most beautiful city.
