This kind of thing is a big problem in new development in places like Surrey/Langley where the lots are tiny, the houses are huge, and so they just pave the entire backyard for a patio. No trees, no shrubs, no nothing. It’s bleak.
That’s the benefit of private property – you can do what you want with it.
Could be the owners are seniors and can’t maintain a garden or lawn.
At least they aren’t using up water or suffering from the chaffer beetle.
