  1. I recall that Mr. Pattison had a similar role with Expo86 — ensuring that costs and timelines were under control.

    This is an excellent move.

  2. Really, the Yes side saviour is someone whose fortune was built on selling cars? Am I the only one who appreciates the irony?

    1. Perhaps think of him as someone who understand accountability. Also, recall his five year role as president of EXPO 86, an undertaking which was very successful. He took no salary for that role, either, despite working full time on it. EXPO 86 was the world’s fair on Transportation. Seems fitting to come back to a transportation topic. Very happy to see his involvement.

  3. I actually had been looking for news articles just last week to see if Mr. Pattison had made any public statements yet one way or the other. Despite what anyone might think of the man he’s definitely someone you’d want on your side.

  4. Mr. Pattison has done tons of good deeds for this Province and his savvy and acumen are well respected. I think he is a smart and prudent choice. Remember if the referendum is successful there will people who did vote against it, and will want accountability. Mr. Pattison will provide this.

  5. RT @GlenKorstrom: Spoke with Jimmy Pattison & confirmed he will oversee funds if #Yesfortransit wins & will also vote YES. #BCPoli #vanpoli

  6. Pattison is to be admired for many reasons. Although, this wreaks of desperation and the vote hasn’t even started. The polls must show that TransLink really is not trusted! We must expect a cabal of religious leaders to be hauled out next. Quickly followed by pets and babies.

    1. It’s nice to know that even Jimmy knows people who have been priced out of Vancouver (thanks to government inaction).

  7. @ Jeff Nagel, I am unsure what you mean by your comment regarding the donation to the Surrey Hospital. Mr. Pattison has donated similar amounts to hospitals and causes throughout the Province. A lot of the extraordinary donations he has made have been kept confidential. He is a business leader and a philanthropist, and leads by leading. I have a lot of respect for this gentleman. He is a legend . I would be delighted to see him involved in this important process involving the future of the region. It gives credence and legibility to the accountability the public needs to move forward.
