Tight City: What is This About?

It’s the latest piece of public art at the Central City Canada Line Station:

Tight 2

.

I was fascinated by the piece – very much in the Jeff Wall photoconceptualism school – and the young people it portrayed:

Tight 3

.

But I missed the point:

To get past the artTalk, it’s by The Graey, a youth-based artist collective.  Tight City “depicts a high density living space that could exist in a space similar to the Canada Line exit shelter.”   The idea: to raise questions about affordable and sustainable living conditions and lifestyles in Vancouver.

And to do it in a very sexy Renaissancy way.

They also ask for viewers to post photos of their cramped spaces at #tightcity – but apparently no one has.
