There is a well-used bike route, with painted lane, on 8th Avenue going uphill from Highbury. A few days ago, the bike lane was covered in leaves, which makes it slippery for people riding bikes. And dangerous, since people on bikes often chose to ride out in the car area.
I was delighted to discover, today, that a cleaning crew had been around, and returned the bike lane to a safe condition.
Much appreciated, City of Vancouver. It all helps to attract the all-ages-and-abilities crowd.
Here’s the old look:
And the new:

“Much appreciated, City of Vancouver.”
Hear, hear!
I was riding along the Grandview bike route on Wednesday – groundskeepers outside an apartment building were using their leaf blowers to blow all the leaves off the grass into the street… Illegal in itself, and directly in to the bike lane. Good job! Probably should have called 311…
Too bad the City wasn’t as diligent about cleaning the sidewalk, which appears to have collected a layer of leaves in the days between the two pictures.
