Cartoon Classic – 1: History of urban design

A rule of thumb in heritage preservation (at least in these parts) is that if a building is more than 30 years old, it qualifies for designation.   Same, I guess, for cartoons.  There aren’t a lot in the field of urban planning, but this is definitely one:

Comic book artist and illustrator Robert Crumb created this series of 12 drawn panels in 1973.  They show the development of a patch of American countryside to train stop, from homestead to small town and finally from a walkable town centre with public transport to a car oriented strip.
