Looks like we have a new series: bike rooms from all over.
When the Council I sat on changed the building bylaws to require the inclusion of bike rooms, with standards for capacity and security, many felt this was an unneeded imposition for something that would remain unused or be converted to other uses, while only raising the costs for commercial space and housing. In other words, more needless red tape.
So how’s it working out? Send in your submissions.
Here’s another one from Ken Ohrn:
.
The bike room at St. Paul’s hospital in June of 2012.

There’s a bit of seasonal variation but for the last three years the bike room at St. Paul’s fills to capacity during the summer months. It also features fewer bikes used as drying racks too. 🙂
For the first time in 20 years I’m working in a (pre-bylaw) downtown office building that does not have decent bike parking. It’s a huge issue for my organization because half of our employees cycle to work. Our lease is up next year, and good bike parking facilities will be high on the list of priorities for our new space.

Tannis – so where do cyclists park? And do you have a picture?
