Exhibition: Motordom in Britannia

From The Guardian:

Carscape: how the motor car reshaped England – in pictures

Roundabouts, petrol stations and ringroads feature in a new English Heritage exhibition that looks at the impact of the car on the English landscape.  It’s about more than just the thrill of the open road, and includes a celebration of the architecture associated with automotive history.

  1. Yes but you could have shown pictures of many smaller towns virtually unchanged with cars.

Unlike US or Canada most European cities were designed in without a car in mind and thus, today, lend themselves better pedestrian friendly. London has done the right thing and introduced a daily toll to enter downtown so it is pleasantly relative free of cars, sth Vancouver can only dream of. There is no vision here to make us less car dependent. Cars rule in MetroVan.
