VIVA Vancouver is seeking unique designs to transform an iconic block in downtown Vancouver, Canada into a temporary summertime plaza for pedestrians.
A single winning team will be selected to design, build and install a temporary public space installation for summer 2014. This year’s theme is connection: people’s connection to one another and people’s connection to the space.

I’m so proud of Vancouver! This is the first year that this important public installation has been an open competition with prize money and a construction budget. In previous years, teams were responsible for design, construction and FUNDING, with the city donating only the funds to close the street, clean up around it and police it. Thank you Vancouver for putting your pocket book where your mouth is! I predict this year’s project will be the best yet.
