Photo Mystery: Who took these 1970s images of Vancouver?

Links and tweets coming into my mailbox for these wonderful, colour-saturated photos of Vancouver:

70 s 5 70s 1 70s 2 70s 3 70s 4

.

But who took them?  Credit where it’s due, please.

Lots more here.

  1. These look very much like Fred Herzog photos. I haven’t seen these images before, but it’s close to his style of urban landscape. The use of colour, however, is quite a bit different than his.

Mr. Herzog is my photographic hero, and I despair that my “eye” doesn’t come close to his. But his work inspires me, and gives me hope.

  2. PopSnap took me on an amazing trip down memory lane last night and made me wish I’d taken photos of the city I knew as a child. Back then, however, film and processing was expensive and I had more pressing matters like playing in the back yard.

If I didn’t have to work for a living I would buy some good camera equipment and devote my life to capturing images so future generations could visit the city I call home.

  3. Seems those ubiquitous yellow plastic milk crates (last pic – outside of Kay’s Grocery) can last a long time and haven’t changed much in nearly forty years. We’ve all used them for one reason or another over the years. Great pic and a testament to their durabilty.
