Don’t know the photographer’s name, but this is his or her’s flickr, which I have followed for years: http://www.flickr.com/photos/49469560@N07/
Pop Snap is the account name, and often the user posts extra details about the photos.
These look very much like Fred Herzog photos. I haven’t seen these images before, but it’s close to his style of urban landscape. The use of colour, however, is quite a bit different than his.
Mr. Herzog is my photographic hero, and I despair that my “eye” doesn’t come close to his. But his work inspires me, and gives me hope.
Doesn’t quite look like typical Fred Herzog photos.
And the flickr account has recent photos too. Profile says from Canadian Prairies.
PopSnap took me on an amazing trip down memory lane last night and made me wish I’d taken photos of the city I knew as a child. Back then, however, film and processing was expensive and I had more pressing matters like playing in the back yard.
If I didn’t have to work for a living I would buy some good camera equipment and devote my life to capturing images so future generations could visit the city I call home.
Seems those ubiquitous yellow plastic milk crates (last pic – outside of Kay’s Grocery) can last a long time and haven’t changed much in nearly forty years. We’ve all used them for one reason or another over the years. Great pic and a testament to their durabilty.
Has anyone thought to ask him?
Perhaps he wishes to remain anonymous.
POP SNAP is a time lord 🙂 ! Seriously thanks to @PS for the awesome photos; i didn’t grow up in Vancouver so I love this “colours of destiny” nostalgic photo history!
Agreed, of course! If Pop Snap is planning to treat us to a grand retrospective in Vancouver some time in the near future, I’m all for it!
