Get OnBoard BC, Metro Vancouver’s transit advocacy coalition, is seeking an executive director to lead the organization to a successful result in the November 2014 transit funding referendum scheduled by the provincial government.
Founded in 2012, Get on Board BC unites a diverse group of business, municipal, labour, student, sustainability and other organizations which support renewed investment in Metro Vancouver’s public transit system.
The successful applicant will:
- Be a self-starter with relevant business and/or non-profit and/or labour experience providing leadership to diverse stakeholders working together collaboratively in a unique coalition;
- Have relevant administrative experience in a non-profit or advocacy setting, including a good grasp of organizational fundraising and membership relations, as well as a demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively and mobilize volunteers;
- Have demonstrated experience and understanding of electoral politics, with direct referendum and/or municipal election campaign experience a clear asset;
- Be familiar with Metro Vancouver’s transportation and transit systems and the main policy issues driving the upcoming referendum debate; and
- Position Get On Board BC to continue to play an ongoing key leadership role on transit and sustainable transportation after the referendum.
Compensation and benefits would be commensurate with experience and expressions of interest in this position should include a resume as well as a general sense of compensation expectations.
The successful candidate will start as soon as possible and report to the directors of Get on Board BC, which is registered as a non-profit society.
