The nation’s most widely used walkability measurement tool just updated its neighborhood rankings, using a new and improved algorithm. The news for the Northwest: Seattle clocks in as the 7th most walkable city in the US, while Vancouver ranks as the 4th most walkable city in all of North America, trailing only New York, San Francisco, and Boston.














Wonder if this will get as much media airtime as TomTom’s silliness.
The thing with Vancouver’s score on walkscore is that Vancouver is only considered as an independent city (excluding Burnaby), whereas Toronto’s score (71) includes Scarborough, N. York etc. In fact, four neighbourhoods in Toronto have a score of 96 or higher, which is the score of Vancouver’s downtown. So it’s better to look at the score of individual neighborhoods.
