Michael Kluckner reports in from his trip to Kuala Lumpur:
People who love to hate Translink would enjoy figuring out KL’s transit system, which has at least 4 different train/monorail/bus systems involving multiple tokens and, for people who live there, two different Compass-type cards.
Some trips are effortless while others require long, bewildering walks through the crammed streets, often being forced out into the traffic due to construction of yet more highrises and malls, just to make a connection from one line to another. Because of the major roads cutting through the downtown, you can often see where you want to go but you simply can’t get there without long detours and climbs up and down pedestrian overpasses.
