From the Vancouver Heritage Foundation:
Seven lane homes open on the 2013 Laneway House Tour
Does the densification of Vancouver have to come at the sacrifice of existing structures? VHF offers a look at an increasingly popular alternative at VHF’s Laneway House Tour on Saturday, October 19 from 1 – 5 pm. See seven examples of laneway houses that are built behind existing residences and learn from the builders, architects and homeowners why the lane house is a great option for many families.
On VHF’s 2013 tour you’ll see a lane home built by a creative couple behind their daughter’s home as a way to stay in the city they love. Complete with a low profile green roof so as not to obstruct the view from the main house, this family is thrilled to be able to share some expenses and stay a family unit within the city limits. You’ll also see the home of a young daughter who has traded condo life for the comfort of her own space in her parents back yard. This arrangement offers the independence young Vancouverites desire, with all the comforts of home.
Saturday, October 19th
