Join local historian Bruce Macdonald for a fascinating exploration of Kitisilano’s unique Delamont Park neighbourhood. In 1905 streetcar service was extended from downtown to Kits Beach,
home-building began in earnest, and the Kitsilano community was born. Bruce’s father moved to Kitsilano 7 years later and his grandfather began working just one block from Delamont.
Amazingly, amongst the blocks and blocks of apartment buildings in east Kitsilano is a small group of houses surviving from those earliest years and before. In the same way the Park Board accidentally saved the heritage houses of Mole Hill and the pioneer homes below the towers surrounding the West End’s Barclay Heritage Square Park, it has now accidentally preserved Victorian homes dating from 1901 in Kitsilano’s Delamont Park area.

Come and explore the unique homes from Kitsilano’s pioneer years with Bruce Macdonald who wrote the history of Delamont for the Park Board.
Wear comfortable walking shoes and in case of rain bring your umbrella.
