Needed: Volunteers for Heritage

The Vancouver Heritage Foundation needs you:

We have many courses, lectures and FOUR House Tours coming up in 2013, plus we have a new mini-film festival! We need your help to have another successful year! Please consider volunteering on one or more House Tours in 2013 and/or being a film usher or ticket taker.
 
BENEFITS
Our volunteers continue to be able to attend Old School courses, Brown Bag Lunch Time Talks and Evening Lectures at Hycroft for free (2 seats available in most courses, 2 seats at Brown Bag and 5 at Hycroft). You also get to attend tours for free before or after your shifts, receive the new one-tee for all-tours t-shirt, enjoy a Volunteer Appreciation evening at the end of the year, make new friends and know that you’re helping to conserve and celebrate Vancouver’s architecture and history!


VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:

Heritage House Tour, Sunday June 2, 9am-5:15pm (morning and afternoon shifts available). We have 4 houses already!!

NEW! Mid Century Modern Tour Saturday August 17, 12 – 6pm We are expanding this tour so we need some volunteers for the first time. More information to come, but please let us know if you are interested.

Vancouver Special House Tour, Saturday September 21, noon-5:15pm (first and second shifts available).

Laneway House Tour, Saturday October 19, noon-5:15pm (first and second shifts available).

 

NEW!  A Look Back: Vancouver The Way It Was – Tuesday film nights
A series of 3 movie screenings at the old Hollywood Theatre! We need ten people able to attend a Sunday orientation and preferably available to do all 3 Tuesday film nights as ushers, front of house, popcorn concession, and help with cleanup.
Volunteer Orientation: Sunday Jan 27th, 1:30-2:15PM @ the Hollywood, 3123 W Broadway (mandatory)
Tuesday Jan 29th: Glowing in the Dark, the history of neon from Vegas to Vancouver, Q&A after led by John Atkin, who is featured in the film.
Tuesday Feb 12th: Coast Modern, showcasing West Coast Modernist architecture from LA to Vancouver. Q & A after led by Gavin Froome and Mike Bernard, the Directors.
Tuesday Feb 26th: Archival Vancouver films West End 66 & City Song, CBC Archives.
All film night volunteer shifts: 6:30 – 9pm. Get to see movies for free!

Call the office 604 264 9642 or click here to email Jen Baynes, our lovely Administration Assistant, providing the information requested (name, address, email address, home and cell number, preferred shift time and t-shirt size) so we can register you. If you are a regular and your contact information has not changed, please just indicate the events you would like to volunteer for. If you need the new tee shirt be sure to give us your unisex tee shirt size and preferred colour – red or grey!
