Manufacturing Change at TransLink

A just-issued Request for Proposals:

TransLink Governance Review Project

The purpose of this RFP is to select a firm/individual to provide the Mayor’s Council with more information on the state of practice for governance of regional services (with a focus on transportation) for their consideration in their deliberations on a preferred governance model for TransLink.

The Mayors’ Council (not TransLink) is responsible for selecting the successful firm/individual. This RFP is available for download from TransLink’s website here.

UPDATE: Meanwhile, over at Metro Vancouver:
.

Metro Vancouver has voted to form a new committee for 2013 that will deal solely with transportation issues.

The new Transportation Committee will differ from the TransLink Mayors’ Council as it will be housed and staffed at the regional district instead of within TransLink. The committee will provide a venue to better align land use challenges with movement of people and goods in the region.

In addition, Metro is planning to create a Joint Policy Panel (JPP) on transportation that would include representatives from multiple sectors like the airport and port authorities, the Gateway Council and other levels of government. This group would attempt to improve alignment of their goals for the region.
