A photo essay on bicycling with small children in tow – by Anna Fahey, first published in Sightline Daily.
I have to admit that at first the idea of taking my small child by bike terrified me … But talking with families who bike with kids has me convinced that it’s the way to go.

One woman told me “It’s the best thing we’ve done for our family!”

PEDAL TO WORK AND SMELL THE ROSES

After Dad has pedalled to school with the kids – it’s off to work.  David Keegan explains how in the New York Times.

I bike during all four seasons. In summer, I wear shorts and a T-shirt and carry a messenger bag over my shoulder for my lunch and anything else I need. Once at the office, I change into business-casual clothes that I keep there. In winter, I wear layers and a thin hat under my helmet. A cold winter day can be the best time to be on a bicycle. When the air is clear, free of oppressive summer haze, the city can look beautiful.

A VANCOUVER BIKE RIDE IN 1974 – 38 YEARS LATER

From Agustín Louro:

In 1974, Hans Spima …  bike-mounted his camera, and went for a ride around Vancouver.  (You can see the result here.)

In 2012, my wife and I took my Canon Powershot D10 camera , hacked with an intervalometer script … and tried to recreate the route as closely as we could.

Here’s the route we mostly took.
