First Thursday City Conversation: City of Glass Forever?

New building types for Vancouver

Thursday, June 7

Time: 12:30-1:30 pm
Place: Room 1600, Harbour Centre, 515 West Hastings St.

Cost: Free

Vancouver’s picture-postcard look is of slender, glassy residential towers framed by water and mountains. Is that 25 year-old style now overdone? Does the city require different architectural types? The mid-rise character of Olympic Village is a first response to those concerns. But what else should Vancouver’s new buildings look like, and where should they be built?  Share your ideas in a City Conversation about Vancouver’s next look and feel with architect-developer Michael Geller; Bruce Haden, a principal of the prominent firm DIALOG; and UBC professor Patrick Condon.
