SFU marketing professor Lindsay Meredith in the Vancouver Sun (March 3, 2012):
(Meredith) predicts that Vancouver will become the new Los Angeles, with huge population growth extending in the northeast sector out through Maple Ridge, Mission and Agassiz.
“It’s going to be a hundred miles long and 30 miles wide complete with the same pollution up against the mountains as they have in the valley,” he predicted. “It’s going to be the same replica as Los Angeles, all the way.”

Except there will be a “there” there.
And it will accommodate that portion of the population who do not wish to own cars . Los Angeles cannot do that even yet.
Maple Ridge is a little odd at the moment. They are investing in it’s downtown and redeveloping areas(I saw the first crane I’ve ever see in maple ridge). But at the same time they are trying to expand into the Agricultural Land Reserve. What are they trying to do?
