The Copenhagenize blog’s series on subversive bike photos picks up some from Miss604.
Like these:
1966 – Bikes at Blundell Elementary School.
.
1943 – Lumberman’s Arch
.
1940s – A boy examines his new bicycle license
Imagine if these photos made it onto the internet. Imagine if people could see how the bicycle used to be a part of life in Vancouver and not merely some modern, white, middle-class sport/recreation/commuter activity dominated by vocal, avid cyclists.

I remember the full bike racks at my elementary school in the 60s. Everyone rode to school. You didn’t need a bike lock then either.
Fantastic! (better keep quiet about the licenses, though).
me too Brock. Streamers off the handle bars and football cards clicking in the spokes held on the the bike with a close peg!
Here’s one I saw on the City of Vancouver Archives http://vancouver.ca/ctyclerk/archives/forsale/images/racecard.gif
Critical Mass in 1902?
The City of Vancouver Archives has, so far, 138 images online that are subject indexed “Bicycles”. They are searchable here http://vancouver.ca/ArchivesSearch/SearchPhotos.aspx. Feel free to grab them from our site and use them!
Might want to link up with the original post.

Hi there, I believe your reader told you about my original blog post on Twitter before you published this post.

It took me a very long time to search out these images and present them in a blog post. I would appreciate a link back to my site since you obviously used the images that I took hours researching.

In any event, happy to give credit where due.
