Actually, it’s been half a year since the last posted passerelle. And these ones are local:
The City of Surrey (opened) two new overpasses … by turning on the illuminated artworks that exist on the structures. The overpasses span Highway 99 and Highway 1 and complete major links in the city’s network of cycling and pedestrian paths, and serve as signature landmarks.
The Tynehead overpass (right) over Highway 1 at 168th street is 122 metres long and connects Tynehead Regional Park with the Fraser Heights community. The Pioneer overpass over Highway 99 at 35th avenue spans 73 metres and connects neighbourhoods on both sides of the highway to regional cycling routes and eventually will connect to the U.S. border. The projects include 3.9 km of pathways and 9.6 km of on-street bike lanes.
The two new public art projects, which consist of nighttime light features that will transition between themes, are part of the City’s public art program … John Webber designed the art lighting on the Tynehead Overpass, and Doug Welch designed the Pioneer Overpass illumination. The artworks enhance the architectural design of the overpasses, which were created by the team of Busby, Perkins + Will Architects and Associated Engineering.
Pioneer:

Gord, have you featured the passerelle that crosses Kingsway in front of Metrotown Mall? See it here in Google Street View.

I was wondering when you’d post on the two Surrey bridges – thought maybe you were avoiding them because Vancouver hasn’t come up with anything as nice.
I drove up from Seattle last night and saw the ove over Hwy 99 cascading like a waterfall in blues and greens – a spaectacular welcome to those coming up from the States!
Also in Surrey – the first girders for the pedestrian/cycle bridge over Hwy 1 at Johnston Hill will be erected this week:
I haven’t seen designs posted of the proposed bridge, but hopeflly Surrey has had input into them and hopefully they will be as nice as the others and act as a “gateway” to the City of Surrey for those travelling east.

Girders should be up by Friday morning – so check the webcam then (don’t know if they are just plain girders or a whole superstrutcure). Go to the 3rd “preset” view for the correct angle.

Oh well – looks like a run of the mill concrete box girder. Maybe there’ll be an interesting superstructure (i.e. canopy).
