The City of Vancouver is testing a new on-line public participation tool. PlaceSpeak is a location-based on-line community consultation platform that connects citizen-users directly with proponents of issues taking place in their neighbourhoods. To encourage the public to visit the site, the City and PlaceSpeak have devised a neighbourhood emblem contest.
Tag Your Hood invites the public to design the most representative emblem for each of Vancouver’s 26 neighbourhoods. The winning emblems will be used on the City of Vancouver web site and at PlaceSpeak. Anyone can submit a design, but only the residents within each of Vancouver’s neighbourhood boundaries on PlaceSpeak.com will be able to vote for the best submissions.
