Next to the those fast-motion video essays a la Koyaanisqatsi, I really like chronological montages a la the Oscars – a city’s history captured in pictures. And the best one I’ve seen recently is this:
It’s part of the repositioning of Ambleside – West Van’s commercial district. Hopefully this is an indication of the quality to come – and, thanks to the technology, an example of the quality being achieved in video production these days at a reasonable price.
Thanks to Pamela Goldsmith-Jones.

Gord, maybe it’s just me, but it seems that West Vancouver according to this video doesn’t change much past the early 1970s. I realize that there are minute discussions happening there regarding so-called gentle density. However, there’s a distinct bug trapped in amber sense I get from this otherwise beautifully crafted video.
I mean, where is the neighbourhood development? Where are the town centres? Where’s the walkability aside from the beachfront?
Current Development in West Vancouver is almost exclusively to the areas up on the mountain along Chippendale Road, such as Whitbey Estates. You do raise a good point though. Might want to check out the Ambleside Now discussion.
