Ten years of Handwritten Vancouver City Council Minutes Transcribed

Join a celebration of the completion of ten years of “Transcription of City Council Minutes from 1886 – 1896”

Thursday, April 28

12 noon

Rsvp at info@globalcivic.org for a zoom link to join.

Almost 5,000 pages of city council minutes have been transcribed by 50 volunteers (which you can read on the Transcribimus website.)  John Atkin and Lisa Smith will be speaking about their own work bringing the history of Vancouver to light.

Interested In Volunteering?

If you can transcribe even a page or two, that is a permanent contribution to Vancouver history.  If you can’t read cursive handwriting, we will find lots for you to do – looking up historical photos to illustrate the minutes, looking up interesting stories hinted at behind the scenes, and spreading the word about our work.
