Arising on the shores of False Creek in the 1880’s, Vancouver’s Chinatown has been a story of overcoming challenges—from race riots, commercial vitality and social cohesion to the difficult situation it faces today. What does the future look like as the neighbourhood emerges from the pandemic?
Join us for a conversation on the efforts to reinvigorate this historic and once bustling neighbourhood, and meet some passionate people working at ground level: Jordan Eng, Carol Lee, and Andy Yan.
Jordan Eng is president of the Vancouver Chinatown Business Association. Carol Lee is an entrepreneur who is re-opening the iconic Ho Ho Restaurant. Andy Yan is the Director of Simon Fraser University’s City Program, as well as being Vancouver’s Duke of Data.
Moderated by journalist Petti Fong. She is the Vancouver correspondent for The Economist Magazine, and teaches journalism at Langara College.
