The WALL at CBC Plaza is a large format artists’ platform made possible through a unique partnership between VHF and CBC/Radio-Canada.
This year’s artist is Vancouver-based Kim Kennedy Austin. Her composite image, ShowBoat, was installed at the CBC Vancouver Broadcast Centre at 700 Hamilton Street.
ShowBoat weaves together archival images of the built and natural environment. Well-known Vancouver locations such as the double pile of yellow sulphur mounds in Burrard Inlet, the majestic North Shore mountains and the iconic Kitsilano Saltwater Pool are collaged and captured vividly. Through patterning and stitching these images in wool, Kennedy Austin has created a colourful tapestry across a grid of plastic canvas.
