Sharing Space at English Bay

Beach Avenue Flow Way at English Bay – Sunday afternoon on May 5th.

Another interesting real-time vignette: Beach Flow Way

There’s a temptation to frame these changes as another car-versus-bike cartoon.  Yet the most fortunate are the pedestrians.

There is now space to breathe, to comfortably distance.  Even at four across.

Taking it away to turn back to bikes is going to be awkward.

  1. I didn’t find it pleasant to cycle on the sea wall bicycle path before these changes, I found it too awkward/dangerous with pedestrians and/or their dogs wandering onto the bike path without looking for cyclists. I think the last time I rode around the park was during the Skookum music festival, and I rode down part of Beach Ave when it was partially closed to cars for the fireworks last summer when the food trucks were parked on the road; that was an improvement.
