Bon-bons from the Housing Data Book

City planner Sarah Ellis again provides a choice morsel among the overwhelming number of statistical goodies in the Housing Vancouver Data Book, detailed here.

Another interesting set of maps are on page 94 and 95, showing the local areas with the highest number and percentage of families with children.

Map 1 shows that while Dunbar and other west-side neighborhoods have a relatively high level of families as a percentage of all households, the overall number of families (Map 2) is higher in east-side local areas like Sunset and Killarney.

A table on page 96 shows the change in these variables over the past three census periods (2006, 2011, and 2016).  When we look at change over time, we see that the percent of households that are families has fallen in almost all of the city’s Census local areas.
