Big birds on one side of False Creek, big bears on the other:

Unusual that a rendering would include a specific piece of public art. People might now expect it’s part of the actual design. (Maybe it is. ‘Bear District’ might be a better name than a generic ‘Waterfront Entertainment District.’)
The concept looks like as though Australians were designing the district: all those decks, patios, spacious waterfront paths and a general sense of removing the distinction between indoor and outdoor – ideal for a subtropical setting.
Oh, wait.

Uuuu Joe won’t like that comment.
I am surprised that someone with a bit more experience in designing high quality urban public spaces wasn’t selected to work on this project.
Agreed. If that’s the plaza at the foot of Georgia, it looks like an after-thought.
Compare to the now defunct “Georgia Steps” which was proposed before the viaduct demolition and the new Georgia ramp took its place. This was one possible design:

PS – you will note that in the above rendering, the existing Georgia Viaducts took Georgia street traffic AWAY from the pedestrian areas down by Pacific Boulevard.
Now, the plans are for Georgia St. traffic to penetrate/mix with the pedestrian areas down by Pacific Boulevard.
I guess that’s a “complete” street?
How about cougars / mountain lions? for the nearby BC Lions!
We’ve already had the bears / eagles / orcas for the “in the City” campaigns.
What bothers me most is the elimination (death?) of the many pedestrians and cyclists during the filming process. I was ready to see the tree come down at the end, but they stopped the destructive filming just before crashing into the tree.
