At the Margins

Visiting out near UBC, and saw things that I don’t normally associate with this dull and conservative old area of Vancouver.

  1. One can only hope some of the new multi family buildings on Dunbar are going to grind more life to an area that was getting hollowed out.

    1. Dunbar was a dying retail strip as well. So near St. George’s, so irresistible to buy and hold for offshore buyers. Check the stats out for the precipitous decline in children in the neighbourhood.

      1. As a long-time resident of Dunbar, I am well aware of the problems facing the neighbourhood. I was just pointing out a factual error in Ken’s original posting. I hope he will correct this. Dunbar’s problems are not unique and are shared by the surrounding areas on the westside. It seems to me there is no need to single out and stereotype one particular neighbourhood, especially since the pictures were actually taken somewhere else.
