Arbutus' Last Tracks?

Admittedly, I haven’t travelled the full 9 km of the Arbutus Corridor recently, but from 10th to 59th, I think these were the only remaining train tracks on Feb 1.
Note the graceful electrical sub-station.

there is obviously room for multiple purposes, but some would have us believe that it should be exclusively for cyclists.
It is a real waste not to consider the potential of a streetcar line, especially since some of the more expensive infrastructure, such as the rectifier substation, already exists.
Laying track on existing gradients is very much cheaper than starting from scratch, so the costs would very reasonable.

The Arbutus planning material shows that the Arbutus Corridor is a transportation corridor, for people walking, cycling and rolling (wheelchairs, walkers and so on). With land reserved in the planning process for an eventual light-rail line, timing to be determined, but likely in the 20-year range. The corridor itself varies in width but is mostly 20 m; with narrower places. I don’t know exactly where this “bikes only” stuff comes from. It isn’t in any plans.

    2. Who are the “some” who would have us believe. it be used exclusively for cyclists? If phfinch cannot follow up with evidence their post should be deleted. Posts are deleted all the time for many reasons. Spreading lies ought to be one of them.

    3. Ah the myth of the evil bikes-only conspiracy once again.
When is this wrong idea going to end? Nobody wants to force anyone to use a bike. The inclusion of cycling infrastructure has been coming for a long long time and has widespread public support. It is being added alongside existing modes, not replacing it.
And Ron, I think it’s better if cranks air their beliefs so these beliefs can be identified and discounted. If they’re silenced it’ll only just lead them to think that confirmation of a conspiracy or something.
