Why are New Yorkers bicycling to work in record numbers?

8-80 Cities asks why there has been such a surge in bike commuting in NYC.  Streetfilms answers:
New Yorkers are Bicycling to Work in Record Numbers
Why, in the past few years, has there been such a surge in New York’s bike-commuting population? Is it because of better cycling infrastructure? Is it because of personal health aspirations? Because New Yorkers can’t stand being in the crowed subways during rush hour?
StreetFilms took to the streets of Manhattan to find out. They shared their discoveries in this short video:
